As a child I always believed that the dried out chalky substance that I got in the gift shop was the actual food that they were eating in spaceI believed that the future could be what I saw in the dioramas of Disney’s Horizonsan animatronic future worldwhere shiny silver tentacle armed robots messily made dinner and Jetson-like robot butlers vacuumed the floorsI believed in a future time unburdened by the hard facts and realities of contemporary science and government fundingwhen it seemed that the limits of our imaginations were the only boundaries of possibility.
